Kokomo Sculpture Walk celebrates public art with nine unique pieces

Take a stroll along trails through downtown Kokomo as you check out each of these unique sculptures. The Greater Kokomo Downtown Association and the City of Kokomo have installed nine new sculptures throughout the downtown area. These pieces vary in size and style and come from artists around the country.
These sculptures are on display along the Industrial Heritage Trail and the Kokomo Riverwalk.

All Alleys Lead to Art breathes life into downtown alleys

Downtown Kokomo is home to several public art spaces thanks to the All Alleys Lead to Art initiative.

“The initiative’s mission is to not only creative inviting public art spaces but to also create learning opportunities through the installation of the art accessories that allow for a variety of art forms to be enjoyed in alleyways around downtown,” said Susan Alexander, manager of downtown creative placemaking for the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance.

Courthouse Alley can be found on Sycamore Street on the south side of the courthouse square. Courthouse alley features container gardens, unique pieces of art and public benches.

Garden Alley can be found along Main Street on the east side of the courthouse square. Garden Alley is filled with flowers planted by volunteers each year.

Further north on Main Street, Artist Alley includes more than a dozen pieces of unique art from local and regional artists. This artwork changes on a yearly basis and is a popular spot for senior photos.

Geek Alley, located next to Kokomo Toys & Collectibles, features several spray-painted images of well-known people such as Barack Obama. These images were done by Indiana artist MuckRock. This alley also features a stage for public performances.
