About the Small Business of the Month Program
The Small Business of the Month/Year Program (SBOM) is designed to recognize the dedication, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by Greater Kokomo Chamber Businesses. The goal of the monthly award is to highlight a small business and give them extra marketing exposure to aid in growing their business. The award season runs from January to November annually. In November, all the previous years’ Small Business of the Month winners are in the running for the Small Business of the Year recognition at our Annual Awards and Celebration event.
SMALL BUSINESS OF THE MONTH WINNER BENEFITS
Winners enjoy additional marketing during the winning month which includes:
- Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce posts formal announcement in monthly e-newsletter & will send out a Member E-Blast
- Immediately in the running for Small Business of the Year award
- Ad run in the Kokomo Tribune
- Ad(s) run on air on 100.5 Hit Country (WWKI)
- Reception at your business or at Inventrek if you do not have a storefront
- Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce sends out email invitation for the reception on behalf of winner
- Facebook live at the reception
- Social media posts announcing the winner
- Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce will send out an email blast with full write up about winner, with photo from the reception
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Winners must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- 50 employees or less
- Current member of the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce
- Must be in business under current ownership for 2 or more years
- Show active involvement in the community and/or Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce
- Must be a privately owned- for profit company (Locally owned franchise companies are eligible)
- Must be in good standing with the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce
- Not been awarded Small Business of the Year for the past 5 years.
