About the Small Business of the Month Program
The Small Business of the Month/Year Program (SBOM) is designed to recognize the dedication, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by Greater Kokomo Chamber Businesses. The goal of the monthly award is to highlight a small business and give them extra marketing exposure to aid in growing their business. The award season runs from January to November annually. In November, all the previous years’ Small Business of the Month winners are in the running for the Small Business of the Year recognition at our Annual Awards and Celebration event.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Winners must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- 50 employees or less
- Current member of the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce
- Must be in business under current ownership for 2 or more years
- Show active involvement in the community and/or Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce
- Must be a privately owned- for profit company (Locally owned franchise companies are eligible)
- Must be in good standing with the Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce
- Not been awarded Small Business of the Year for the past 5 years.

The October 2025 Small Business of the Month is Bruno’s Pizza.
Besides great food, the beloved pizza spot serves the community because they believe that the best way to thrive in a community is to give back to it. From serving food at various events like the Ivy Tech Career Fair to supporting local organizations, schools, and churches, Bruno’s Pizza is always finding ways to help, educate, and lift up those around them. They also serve as a safe and encouraging place for young people to work and learn valuable life skills.

The September 2025 Small Business of the Month is Elsewhen Technology.
Founded right here in Kokomo, Elsewhen Technology is more than just an IT company—they are a trusted partner for small and mid-sized businesses. Their people-first approach takes the stress out of technology with quick response times, transparent practices, and even a no-contract policy that shows how much they believe in their work. They also provide affordable and pro-bono IT services to nonprofits, mentor people going into technology careers, and offer free cybersecurity education for both businesses and residents.

Two guys, a heart for the community, and 20 years of dedication
The August 2025 Small Business of the Month is The 2 Mortgage Guys.
Since 2005, Ryan Minick and Steve DeLon have used their “2MG Way” to give back to the community within their business and beyond. They helped revitalized First Fridays in downtown Kokomo by building the first website for the event series and playing a key role in making the annual Strawberry Festival a First Friday event, which brings thousands to downtown Kokomo each year. In addition, they have supported local organizations with their “Give 1000” program and the “Hawgin’ the Block” fundraiser for Bridges Outreach.
On August 21, 2025, the business was awarded a Small Business of the Month plaque from the Chamber and a Cornerstone Award from Mayor Moore.

The July 2025 Small Business of the Month is The Wyman Group.
For over 20 years, The Wyman Group has served Kokomo beyond their real estate practices. They invest and uplift the community with heart and purpose by giving back to local nonprofits, helping families in need, serving on various boards and committees, and more. Through their efforts with Keep Kokomo Beautiful, wheelchair ramp installation with SAWS, Buddy Bag programs, and organization of the Haynes Apperson Festival, they make Kokomo a welcoming and vibrant community for all.
On July 24, 2025, the business was awarded a Small Business of the Month plaque from the Chamber and a Cornerstone Award from Mayor Moore.

The June 2025 Small Business of the Month is Olive Tree Boutique.
Owner Whitnie Mitchell has created a welcoming shop where guests feel valued and appreciated. She has also inspired local entrepreneurs by sharing her business story and insights that help them succeed. As a downtown business, the boutique has been able to engage in First Fridays and take its popular custom Charm Bar to multiple community events.

The May 2025 Small Business of the Month is Cardwell Built.
As a local construction company, John and Laura Cardwell build more than dream homes and business spaces. They build meaningful relationships and a strong professional network through innovation, work ethic, and community spirit. They engage in local programs such as Kokomo CEO, the Greater Kokomo Alliance Board of Directors, and other programs and charities. Cardwell Built’s craftsmanship can be seen in their buildings such as Brookstone Suites, The Venue, Salon Suites, and other developments across Kokomo and beyond.

Capturing a community-focused perspective
The April 2025 Small Business of the Month is ANP Photography.
Behind the camera, owner Ashley Peters captures the region’s most precious moments in her downtown Kokomo studio and beyond with her talent and passion for photography. She keeps the community in mind with her services by offering discounted sessions for military personnel, teachers, and first responders, as well as professional photoshoots for small businesses. She has also supported numerous charities and events such as a contributor for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department’s Benevolent Fund and a photographer for the 2024 Greater Kokomo Chamber Women’s Business Council Holiday Luncheon.
On Apr. 17, 2025, the business was awarded a Small Business of the Month plaque from the Chamber and a Cornerstone Award from Mayor Moore.

More than an insurance group
The March 2025 Small Business of the Month is Brady Insurance Group.
Driven by a passion for Kokomo, Lisa Brady and her team at Brady Insurance Group give back to the community though their services and engagement. Since 2019, the business has provided great rates for their clients while also maintaining lasting relationships. They have also engaged in community events such as Advanced Medical Imaging’s Breast in Show, Family Service Association’s Little Black Dress, and the Greater Kokomo Chamber Golf Classic.

The February 2025 Small Business of the Month is Palmer’s Jewelry.
For over 80 years, the family-owned jewelry shop has served as Kokomo’s place for visitors to find dazzling and timeless gifts or to have jewelry and watches repaired. The staff’s attention to detail, expertise, friendly service, and the shop’s expansive history of serving the community keep customers from near and far coming back for more sparkling treasures.

The January 2025 Small Business of the Month is Big Ben Coffee Co.
Since 2002, Big Ben Coffee has been one of Kokomo’s favorite spots for coffee and meeting friends and family. Through their main location and shop in the Community Howard Regional Health Hospital, they serve the community with a smile to help them fuel their day. Not only do they sell coffee and other drinks and treats, they also provide career opportunities in a warm, friendly atmosphere that treats employees like family. Big Ben Coffee also sponsors local nonprofit organizations and is a destination spot for our community to gather.

The October 2024 Small Business of the Month is The Wellness Garden, a health center specializing in natural and holistic supplements and treatments.
Margaret Johnson uses “Grow Your Garden, Harvest Your Health” as her business’ motto, and she has used those words to grow her presence in the community. Through her practices, services, and products, she helps her clients on the path to a healthier life. In 2023, she won The Drive business pitch competition and expanded her business to offer more treatments. Since then, she has hosted events to inform the public about breast cancer and reading food labels and has sponsored other happenings in the community.

The September 2024 Small Business of the Month is The Jefferson House of Flowers, a flower shop, fashionable boutique, and event center.
The Jefferson House of Flowers has been a cornerstone in the community for years, serving as the flower shop of choice for many families, friends, and coworkers to celebrate all of life’s moments and special occasions. While flowers are their specialty, they offer a stylish boutique that features beautiful clothing and accessories, as well as perfect gifts. They also offer an on-site event center to host weddings and parties surrounded by the beauty of nature.

The August 2024 Small Business of the Month is Meadows Medical Center, a pediatric healthcare facility.
Dr. Dana Steward has created a place where children from birth to adolescent receive excellent care. Meadows Medical Center specializes in immunizations, treatments for common childhood diseases, nutrition, and more. Her staff cares for the facility’s patients with a passion for helping children stay healthy and a friendly smile.

July 2024 Small Business of the Month is Bowe Digital, a business that specializes marketing and communications for businesses of all sizes.
Wayne M. Stanley wanted to establish a company that serves small businesses across the nation while staying close to his Kokomo home. Through top-notch service reflected by positive reviews from customers, Bowe Digital has created a business that helps the community with social media, web design, branding, and more, which can be difficult tasks for small businesses.

June 2024 Small Business of the Month is The Production Assistant, a business that specializes in helping other small businesses within the area with administrative tasks such as bookkeeping and cash-flow management.
Lisa Girton established The Productive Assistant more than 13 years ago in Inventrek. Since then, it has moved into a new office space and has grown to be a valuable resource for other area small businesses.

May 2024 Small Business of the Month is CrossFit Kokomo, a local fitness facility featuring CrossFit exercise programs.
On May 16, 2024, the business was awarded a Small Business of the Month plaque from the Chamber, a Hard Working Hoosier Award from State Representative Mike Karickhoff, and a Cornerstone Award from Mayor Tyler Moore.
For the business’ contributions to the community, CrossFit Kokomo also received the 2024 Small Business of The Year award during the Greater Kokomo Alliance Annual Awards Celebration on November 7, 2024.

Brewing up excellence
February 2024 Small Business of the Month is Sun King Brewery Kokomo, the Kokomo location for a popular Indiana brewery.
Sun King Kokomo serves beer brewed on location, as well as its other famous brews. It also distributes the Kokomo location beers to other restaurants in and outside Kokomo, and it’s outdoor location makes it a perfect spot for bringing the community together.
